Let's face it folks; there is no great pizza in Stonington. If you want great pizza go to Grand Apizza in Clinton or better yet, Wooster Street in New Haven.

Pizzetta is great and they have a gluten free option but it is a little on the pricey side. Taste for value and convenience, I have to nominate Stonington Pizza Place. It would be great if they had a gf pizza but you can't beat a place where they know your name!

Gotta give it to Mango's in Old Mystic Village...that is if you are from the Greater New Haven area and like the thin-crust style and can't get to Pepe's at Mohegan.

Coming from the NY area, Stonington-Mystic pizza has been a real disappointment. Stonington Pizza is good, but travel a little further and have the fabulous Arthur Avenue flatbread pizza at Tuscany (Mohegan Sun).....absolutely the best in the area!

Well here's where I'm torn. Are we judging on the whole experience or just the pizza itself? In regards to just pizza I'd have to say Pizzetta because I am a huge thin crust kind of guy. However, overall experience, NOTHING beats the Cheers approach the Koukoularises have going on at Stonington Pizza. If all of the eateries in town folded up but one, my choice for the one left standing would be Stonington Pizza any day.

Since their overhaul of sauce and introduction of their Artisan Pizzas, the Dominos Pizza locations in Groton, and Mystic consistently leave the local mom and pop pizzerias in their dust. Don't take my word for it...if you haven't tried them in the past year give it a shot.
