Mystic Country Club, 1925 on Jackson Ave in downtown Mystic.

Today Jackson Avenue in downtown Mystic is a sleepy street dotted with houses and the businesses of Mystic Stainless & Aluminum Inc and Mohegan Oil. But at the turn of the last century the street was home to the Mystic Country Club. The Mystic River Historical Society sent Stonington-Mystic Patch this photograph of the Mystic Country Club taken around 1925

According to the historical society residents organized the club in 1904 and Mystic dentist Dr. George S.B. Leonard served as the first club president. The club hosted social activities and lawn game. In 1918, during World War I the club became a reading room run by the American Red Cross.
