Week In Review: Be Stonington-Mystic Patch's Valentine

A Recap Of The Week’s Top Stories On Stonington-Mystic Patch

Stonington-Mystic Patch wants you to be our Valentine.

Yes, Valentine’s Day is still a couple of days away, but we want you to be ours. After all Patch is all about you; your photos, your news, your businesses and your blogs. This Valentine’s we’re taking a moment to celebrate the holiday not with romantic dinners, flowers and hearts but by making sure the people we cherish know how special they are to us, and you’re some of those people. So, Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck residents will you be Stonington-Mystic Patch’s Valentine?

O.K., O.K. for those of you a little Valentine’s Day challenged we do have a slew of things coming up this week to help you out. Later today Clinton Patch Editor Fay Abrahamsson will share her menu for a romantic dinner for two, and on Monday we’ll announce the winner of the cupcake Food Fight. You can vote until 5 p.m. today. Plus on Monday we’ll have a Valentine’s Day gift guide for the readers in your life. And for artists in your life the perfect gift may be a penguin created piece of artwork. Still looking for Valentine’s Day plans? There’s dinner theatre of a civil war love story and a ton of lovely local restaurants to try.

So, now that we your Valentine’s Day covered why not catch up on some of the news of the past week? Take a moment to meet Lola Liepod of FiberArts Studio in Stonington’s Velvet Mill. Read a transcript of Governor Dannel Malloy’s speech opening the 2012 General Assembly. Tell us what you think of the planning and zoning commission’s approval of the Cherenzia housing development settlement.

You didn’t think that was it, did you? There’s the story of the street light in front of Bogue’s Alley, the weird story of many residents losing power on Monday due to a fire in Rhode Island and the shortening of the 2013 lobster season.

Plus we covered lots more this week and throughout the weekend, so search the site for other stories, follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and check out our calendar to see what's happening next week in town.
