Hedwig, born male as Hansel in East Berlin, fell in love with an American G.I. and underwent a Gender Reassignment Surgery in order to marry him and flee to the West. Unfortunately, nothing worked out quite as it was supposed to - years later, Hedwig is leading her rock band on a tour of the U.S., telling her life story through a series of concerts at Bilgewater Inn seafood restaurants. Her tour dates coincide with those of arena-rock star Tommy Gnosis, a wide-eyed boy who once loved Hedwig - but then left with all her songs.

Whether you are for or against nuclear energy and want to see both sides of the issue, please join Green Planet Films Presents&nbsp;at the Connecticut premiere of a documentary release called ATOMIC HOPE: Inside the Pro-nuclear Movement.&nbsp;Over a 10-year period,&nbsp;the film follows&nbsp;a tiny global movement of unpopular pro-nuclear activists, who strongly believe we need nuclear power in order to decarbonize our energy systems, before catastrophic climate change occurs,&nbsp;and&nbsp;is the key to solving both our energy and climate crisis. 
After the 83 min film, there will be a short pre-recorded interview with director Frankie Kennedy (Ireland), we will then open up the mic to questions from the audience. Claude Flory,&nbsp;a former Millstone employee and an adjunct nuclear professor at Three Rivers Community&nbsp;College and Nuclear Engineering&nbsp;student Dane McEntee will be present to help answer questions.

Join us for Southeast Connecticut’s 17th Annual Walk to End Homelessness on Sunday, April 28, at Parade Plaza in downtown New London. Registration starts at noon, with the walk commencing at 1 p.m. The event, organized by the <a href="https://www.nlhhc.org/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.nlhhc.org/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1710970329017000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1BQixuvRbH7KW6D51WlNKC" rel="nofollow">New London Homeless Hospitality Center</a> and <a href="https://www.conncoll.edu/academics/majors-departments-programs/majors-and-minors/holleran-center/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.conncoll.edu/academics/majors-departments-programs/majors-and-minors/holleran-center/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1710970329017000&amp;usg=AOvVaw36jwjAxxa_3OXivznGVnjL" rel="nofollow">Connecticut College</a>, aims to raise awareness about homelessness and gather support for the center's programs. Lead sponsor Yale New Haven Health/Lawrence &amp; Memorial Hospital and gold sponsor Mohegan Sun are joined by several other generous sponsors. It's anticipated to attract hundreds of participants. Activities kick off at noon with registration, information booths, and entertainment by local band, Dogbite. The walk will feature remarks from community leaders before embarking on a 1.7-mile route through downtown New London and nearby neighborhoods, passing by landmarks and social service agencies. The New London Homeless Hospitality Center, founded in 2006, provides emergency shelter and support services to adults experiencing homelessness in New London County. It strives to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring. A spectacular beach race featuring stunning views! The half marathon course runs into the pristine neighborhoods of Watch Hill first before entering Weekapaug and running along the coastline and through the picturesque beach community. The Surftown Half Marathon, presented by Westerly Hospital, is a destination race not to miss, with additional distance options available.
The 2-person relay gives runners a chance to experience part of the awesome Surftown Half course split with a buddy for 5.1 mile and 8 mile legs. Relay participants exchange within walking distance of the pre/post-race area.
The 5K race offers a 3.1 mile beachy run to remember! The flat and fast course travels out-and-back along Winnapaug Pond and the Misquamicut beach community and starts shortly after the 13.1 mile race kicks off.
All participants earn a funky beach-themed finisher medal, a high quality short sleeve technical shirt and a post-race party by the beach with a variety of fresh food and a complimentary ice-cold beer from Grey Sail Brewing (21+ w/ID only).
