Stonington High School Seeking Donations Of Reading Materials

is introducing a new reading program and they are asking for the community’s help in making the program successful. Below is an email sent out to Stonington High School parents from Assistant Principal Mark Friese:

In your student's advisory block, we introduced a new reading program that will begin on January 25 during advisory.  Twice a month, students will be asked to participate in silent reading during advisory, just for the fun of it.

We are asking that if possible, you donate any reading materials (books, magazines, periodicals) of interest to teen readers to SHS in support of building a small library of choices in each classroom that has an advisory group.

Donations can be brought to the school with attention to Amy McKenna, Humanities Coordinator.  We will distribute all materials equally, unless you have your own student bring them in to his/her advisory teacher for that classroom.

Donations will be accepted throughout the second semester, but we are hoping to collect a good amount of materials in January so that we can start strong.

Thank you for helping support our reading initiative.

Mark Friese, Assistant Principal
