Taylor Donovan to appear in ANNIE at Theatre by the Sea July 17 - August 10

10-year old Taylor Rose Donovan of Stonington has been cast in Theatre by the Sea’s heart-warming family production of ANNIE.  Playing the role of the orphan ‘Tessie’, Taylor will be performing in the production from July 17 – August 10.

No stranger to the stage, Taylor recently appeared in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with Missoula’s Children’s Theatre and in The Wiz with East Lyme Regional Theatre.  She also played the role of ‘Marta Von Trapp’ in The SHS Players production of The Sound of Music.  A student at Dean Mill Elementary School, Taylor has also performed with Mystic Ballet Summer Stage and Kathleen Messina’s Danceworks.

Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the show won seven Tony Awards, including for Best Musical, Best Book (Thomas Meehan), Best Original Score (music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin), and Best Choreography. Directed and choreographed by Richard Sabellico who appeared as ‘Rooster’ in the original Broadway production, ANNIE is the rags-to-riches story of plucky young Annie’s journey from the hard-knock New York orphanage to the luxurious home of billionaire businessman Oliver Warbucks. Boasting one of Broadway’s most memorable scores, including “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street” and the legendary “Tomorrow,” fantastically visual choreography, a side-splittingly funny script and, of course, the adorable dog Sandy, it really is no surprise that ANNIE has become one of the best-loved family musicals of all time.
