Daily Five: Volunteers, Trivia, Summer Camp

Five things to know for Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

1. TVCAA is looking for some volunteers. Needed are people 55 and over that can spend 20 hours a week in local public schools, helping children with math and literacy. Volunteers will be paid. For more information contact Brian Cosgrove at 860-425-6608 or by email at BCosgrove@TVCCA.Org.

2. Budding writers should stop by the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center tonight at 6:30 for the Writing Group. Writers of all levels are welcome to attend the free event.

3. Try your luck at Trivia at the Soundings Lounge at the Hilton Mystic. Trivia night take places from 7 to 9 p.m. For additional updates and information like them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SoundingsLounge.

4. Mystic Seaport recently announced on Patch that they are now taking registrations for their summer day camps.

According to the post, those who register by Sunday, March 31 will save 10 percent.

Camp programs are offered for both boys and girls ages 4 to 16. Enrollment is limited, so be sure to get your summer schedules set as quickly as you can!

5. Justice of the Peace Marie Tyler Wiley will perform free wedding services on Valentine's Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Meeting House at the Olde Mistick Village.

While the wedding ceremony is free couples must bring an official marriage license from the Town of Stonington. Town hall is open between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Wiley has held the free wedding ceremonies at Olde Mistick Village's Old Meeting House for several years and said she typically marries 20 to 22 couples each year on Valentine's Day.

The unions are in support and wrote this bill with a couple of state representatives. Council 4 ofRead More AFSCME is fighting for this bill to pass for all those that work hard in the State of Connecticut. Any support would be great. Thank you.

my letter will be off monday,i am in total support of this bill. after working your whole life oneRead More should be able to retire with dignity and enjoy your last years. if the unions in the state can work with you for the passage of this bill, this bill SB 54 WILL PASS.
