Daily Five: Hurricane Sandy Relief

Five things to know for Monday, Nov. 19, 2012

1. Stonington Feed is collecting water, clothes, non-perishable foods, first aid items, toiletries, blankets and pet food for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. On Thanksgiving Eve, Stonington Feed will bring a trailer full of supplies to New Jersey.

2. Do you know of a fundraiser at a local school, a great concert or an art exhibit at a local business? Is there a garage sale or sports game coming up? If it's not on our Patch calendar, it should be. Feel free to add events to our site here

3. The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is seeking boats for the 10th Annual Mystic Holiday Boat Parade.The annual event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. Applications to participate are available by emailing or calling Alexa Shelton at 860-572-9578, alexa@mysticchamber.org.

4. Small Business Saturday is this Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. Where’s your local favorite place to do some work with a good cup of coffee?

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.

The unions are in support and wrote this bill with a couple of state representatives. Council 4 ofRead More AFSCME is fighting for this bill to pass for all those that work hard in the State of Connecticut. Any support would be great. Thank you.

my letter will be off monday,i am in total support of this bill. after working your whole life oneRead More should be able to retire with dignity and enjoy your last years. if the unions in the state can work with you for the passage of this bill, this bill SB 54 WILL PASS.
