Five things to know for Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012

1. The Friends of the Mystic & Noank Library will be holding a special one day sale of antique and vintage books for adults and children on Saturday Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. The Mystic Aquarium is hosting a YPsocial event today at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to any YPECT member at no cost. YPsocial suggests bringing business cards to the event. For more information on the event or to join YPECT visit http://YPECT.com.

3. Stonington Human Services is accepting names of children for the 2012 Santa Anonymous Boot Program until Friday, Oct. 26. According to a press release from Stonington Human Services the program provides new winter boots to eligible Stonington children and is sponsored in part by TVCCA’s Retired & Senior Volunteer Program. Call Stonington Human Services, at 860-535-5015, for more information on the program and on sponsoring a child to receive a new pair of winter boots.

4. Give your furry four-legged friend an extra treat, walk, hug or all three in honor of National Dog Week. This week marks the 84 observance of National Dog Week, which runs from Sept. 23 to Sept. 30.
