Take Your Child to the Library Day

The Mystic & Noank Library is joining libraries across the state and nation for the first annual Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This grassroots effort was started by the Waterford and Stratford, Connecticut Public Library’s Children’s librarians to highlight the importance of libraries for children. UCONN Women’s Basketball coach, Geno Auriemmo, is endorsing this exciting new initiative.

The Mystic & Noank Library’s Chess Club (grades 2-8) will meet at 10 a.m. New players are always welcome. At 3 p.m., there will be a showing of the movie, Zookeeper, appropriate for the entire family. Throughout the day, children may make valentines to take home and to decorate the Heart of the Library. Children may also sign up for their very own library card.

For more information on the effort, go to http://takeyourchildtothelibrary.blogspot.com/. For more information about the Mystic & Noank Library’s events, email mnlchildrens@gmail.com or call 860-536-7721. The activities are all free
