Sunday. A day of rest, right? Right! So get yourself over to in Stonington and enjoy wine tasting and music.
The tasting room is open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and as part of its , acoustic duo Kevin Manzella & Greg D perform from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with no cover charge. Saltwater Farm Vineyard is just off Route 1 at 349 Elm St. and offers varietals of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
You owe yourself a visit to this very special place, which has come a very long way from a decade ago, when the owners bought the World War II aircraft hangar. They transformed the old, drafty building into a beautifully rustic and modern winery and event space – from its distinctive milled aluminum exterior and handsome wooden door to its interior vaulted ceilings, original wood sheathing and huge timber trusses.
An outdoor deck treats guests to stunning views of the vineyard, tidal marshes, Wequetequock Cove and Long Island Sound. Fifteen of the vineyard’s 100 acres are home to six grape varieties.
Visitors get an extra treat this weekend when a group of internationally known Celtic musicians perform a Celtic Concert from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sit by the fire, sip wine, watch the sun set and listen to world-class music – Life’s good. Life’s very, very good.
