First Selectman Ed Haberek has created a page on the website firstgiving.com to fundraise for his participation in the annual Penguin Plunge for the WARM Shelter.

Haberek has a goal of $200 and has raised $40 so far, with his donation of $20 the first pledged.

The 8th annual Plunge is held on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1 every year at Misquamicut Beach.

The mission of WARM is to provide a continuum of care and service to the homeless and needy by providing safe, affordable housing and assuring supportive services, and to help the homeless and needy build self-esteem and move toward independent and responsible living, according to firstgiving.com.
