Haberek to Take the Plunge... the Penguin Plunge
Participants seek pledges for the Plunge, in an effort to raise money for the WARM Shelter in Westerly.
First Selectman Ed Haberek has created a page on the website firstgiving.com to fundraise for his participation in the annual Penguin Plunge for the WARM Shelter.
Haberek has a goal of $200 and has raised $40 so far, with his donation of $20 the first pledged.
The 8th annual Plunge is held on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1 every year at Misquamicut Beach.

The mission of WARM is to provide a continuum of care and service to the homeless and needy by providing safe, affordable housing and assuring supportive services, and to help the homeless and needy build self-esteem and move toward independent and responsible living, according to firstgiving.com.
