Lots at La Grua You Don’t Want to Miss

From abstract quilts to life on the Arabian Peninsula, January at LaGrua is not to be missed.

Starting Friday Jan. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m., La Grua Center Arts & Culture presents author Jude Larzelere. Local artist Jude Larzelere displays beautiful abstract art quilts and various watercolor and ink on paper studies. Jude has been named the Fellow for Craft 2014 by the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts; this exhibit will contain several of the quilts that the jury critiqued for the award. Come and experience this beautiful and captivating show! Opening reception Friday, January 10th from 5-7pm.

Next up is the Saturday Jan. 18 presentation about life in Oman. As part of the La Grua Center Lecture Series, 
Rebecca Tumicki will discuss her travels and life in Oman. The lecture begins at 3 p.m.

This presentation gives the audience a rare opportunity to learn about the fascinating culture of Oman through vibrant pictures and stories as told by someone who has lived there for two years. This area is known for dhow boat building still being made by hand, turtle watching and breath taking wadis for hiking and swimming. Speaker Rebecca Tumicki will also highlight the traditional dress worn by women and men in the Sur.
