PHOTOS: Mystic Drawbridge Control Building

The pre-assembled control building arrived this week.

Tenders of the Mystic drawbridge will soon have a new control building. Stonington-Mystic Patch Blogger Lawrence J. Clark took these photographs of the building arriving and being moved for installation

According to The Westerly Sun, the new control building is slightly larger than the old one and houses a 175-kilowatt generator that could provide electricity the bridge during a power outage.

The $15 million reconstruction of the Mystic drawbridge began in 2001 and 2002 with minor rehabilitative structural repairs. Construction resumed in December of 2010 breaking off during the summer months. The drawbridge reconstruction project is expected to be finished this April.
