Your Take: Swift to Settle in Watch Hill. Cool? Or, Eh?

My kids and I were in Los Angeles recently and while there my daughter Lily mentioned (before anyone seemed to know, interestingly) that Taylor Swift was “moving to Westerly.” We say Westerly because Watch Hill happens to be a village in Westerly, so it just sounds funnier to say Taylor Swift will be living in Westerly. (FYI: Watch Hill has the same zip code – 02891!)

Fun facts about the mansion: Address is 16 Bluff Ave. It was built in 1904, was purchased in 1996 for $3.5 million and was assessed in 2011 for $12 million. Swift reportedly spent $17.7 million. She has the money so hey, cool. 

Anyway, do we care a huge celebrity is moving in the area? She’s definitely not the only celeb to hang in Watch Hill. There’s Regis and Conan and more.

But it may be a big deal for the Stonington High School kids that have, under eminent domain perhaps, commandeered East Beach, the entrance of which is at the top of Larkin Road – because that’s exactly where Swift’s house is; the massive white mega-mansion that hovers atop the walkway to East Beach. I can see kids now: ‘Taylor! Taylor! Taaaaayyyylooooorrrr”
