Antiquarian Book Fair

The Stonington Historical Society is once again sponsoring the Antiquarian Book Fair on the last Saturday of the month: October 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Woolworth Library & Research Center, 40 Palmer Street, in Stonington. This event attracts book collectors and those interested in local history to the historical society’s modern archives building, which is located next door to the historic Captain Palmer House.

The sale features books and other publications on local history, genealogy, architecture, culture, and art. There are also works by local authors and well as an array of books published by the historical society itself. This year there will also be heirloom bulbs for sale, ready for fall planting. Refreshments, including homemade cupcakes, will also be available.

Items for the sale are gathered from private libraries of historical society members as well as duplicates from the Woolworth Library. The event goes to support the library and its beautiful grounds over looking Lambert Cove. The library is open without charge to the public on a year-round basis and is popular with researchers and scholars from around the country and even abroad as well as local students and history buffs.
