Photographers in the region are invited to submit their best work to The f-Stops here, an annual juried exhibition at Hygienic Art.
The gallery will receive works between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 16. Up to three pieces may be submitted, with an entry fee of $15 for a single entry, $25 for two entries, and $35 for three entries. The show will open with a reception from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 23, and the display will be up through March 16.
This marks the third year of the show. David Madasci, co-founder and associate curator of the Alexy von Schlippe Gallery of Art at the University of Connecticut at Avery Point, will be a guest juror. Ted Hendrickson, a photographer and associate professor of art at Connecticut College, will curate the pieces selected for the show. Cash prizes will be awarded.
The submission rules are:
- Up to three pieces of black and white or color photography may be submitted. All works must be for sale, and no photos that have previously been shown at Hygienic Art will be accepted.
- Photos must be framed with wires and ready for hanging. Metal frames must have hangers and wire; clips will not be accepted.
- No piece may exceed 48 inches in any direction.
- All works must remain on display for the duration of the show. The gallery will retain 30 percent of sales and collect a six percent Connecticut sales tax. The gallery is not responsible for unclaimed work.
Pieces that are not selected for the show may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 or noon to 3 p.m. on Feb. 26. Pieces that are shown in the exhibit should be picked up between noon and 3 p.m. on March 17.
