The Ira C. Palmer House

Exploring Vintage Stonington, Mystic And Pawcatuck

Built in 1847, the Ira H. Palmer House still stands at 25 High Street in Stonington Borough. The vintage photograph was taken sometime between 1890 and 1900 but the photographer is unknown.

According to the Connecticut Historical Society, the , and the the house was built by John F. Trumbull for his daughter, Harriet, and son-in-law, Ira H. Palmer giving it the name the Ira H. Palmer house. Trumbull was the owner of the factory building on Stonington Harbor, that was first known as the Joslyn Fire Arms Company and then also as the Atwood Machine Company and Plax and Monsanto.
