Today Jackson Avenue in downtown Mystic is a sleepy street dotted with houses and the businesses of Mystic Stainless & Aluminum Inc and . According to the historical society residents organized the club in 1904 and Mystic dentist Dr. George S.B. Leonard served as the first club president. The club hosted social activities and lawn game. In 1918, during World War I the club became a reading room run by the American Red Cross.
