This Weekend: "The Spitting Image" Theater Production, "Our Flag Was Still There" Coast Guard Academy Concert

Don't miss the Veterans Day parade at Foxwoods, New York celebration at Mohegan Sun, "Hop Into History" at the Groton Public Library and Santa's arrival at the mall!

Our picks for your weekend lineup have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Really, we’re not kidding. We have some Veterans Day mixed with some Christmas, mixed with a little music and some theater for good measure. Sounds like a recipe for a great weekend! We hope yours turns out well. Enjoy!

WHERE/WHEN:  Shows will be held Thursday through Saturday of this weekend and Monday through Saturday of next week at the First United Methodist Church in Mystic.

WHY GO: You’ll enrich your mind, and your weekend, with some fantastic local theater. And they’re making it easy—tickets are available at the door!

PRICING: Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.

WHERE/WHEN: Friday at 11:11 a.m. Parade begins at the Grand Pequot Ballroom and concludes near the food court.

WHY GO: After the parade, have lunch and shop at the casino! Veterans and active duty military will receive a 10 percent discount at Foxwoods’ shops and restaurants.

PRICING: No charge.

WHERE/WHEN: Santa makes his grand debut on Saturday at 10 a.m.

WHY GO: Don’t forget your wish list! But if you haven’t written it yet, don’t worry—he’ll be in town through Christmas Eve.

PRICING: Photo prices vary.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Groton Public Library.

WHY GO: Kids will love this educational program with spinner Linda Tomkins!

PRICING: Free.

WHERE/WHEN: Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Coast Guard Academy’s Leamy Hall.

WHY GO: Enjoy the concert and honor our veterans!

PRICING: Free and open to the public.

WHERE/WHEN: Most specials run all month, but there are lots of appearances planned for this weekend!

WHY GO: Lots of New York-based brands will be set up at the casino this weekend. New York’s WPLJ will broadcast live from the Wolf Den and former Giants Mark Bavaro & Phil McConkey will visit.

PRICING: Many events are free. Pricing varies for dining and shopping specials.
