'Treasures From The Collections' To Open At Mystic Seaport

has announced that the exhibit "Treasures from the Collections" will open on Saturday, March 31.

According to the press release, the new exhibit features 149 historic objects from the Mystic Seaport Museum.

This "ground-breaking" exhibit, according to the press release, stands out because the selected objects are not displayed in coordination with similar themes, but rather for their "artistic and aesthetic merit."

“This exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for us to display some of the finest objects in our collections and do it in a novel way,” Mystic Seaport President Stephen C. White said in the release. ”The history of America has been shaped by the sea and our relationship to it. This exhibit tells that story, and more, through the language of creative expression.”

"Treasures from the Collections" will run through 2013 and will be set up in R. J. Schaefer Exhibit Hall.
