Class Trip To Schooltime Garde Performance Top Prize For "Online Sleuth"

Garde Arts Center and Bob's Discount Furniture invite students to try contest to win gift certificate and class trip

The Garde Arts Center and its schooltime performance sponsor have launched an online contest with a top prize of a class trip to one of the theater's daytime shows.

The Garde and Bob's Discount Furniture, which sponsors the Schooltime Performance Theater, announced Wednesday that they have launched the 2013 Online Sleuths Contest. Open to students ages five to 18, the contest invites students to search the Garde and Bob's websites for answers to trivia questions on the websites. The contest forms are available on both sites.

The winner of the contest will receive a trip for their class, including up to $500 in transportation costs, for one of the Schooltime Performance Series shows. The individual winner will win a $750 gift card to Bob's Discount Furniture in Niantic.

Contest forms should be mailed or delivered to the Garde by Feb. 15. Entries may also be faxed to 860-701-0189.

The Schooltime Perofrmance Series intends to engage children in live performing arts performances such as theater, music, and dance. Upcoming show's include Theatreworks USA's Seussical, Freedom Train, Charlotte's Web, and Click, Clack, Moo; the dance program Step Afkrika!; and Two Beans Productions' Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

“Bob’s understands the importance of performing arts programs – for both children and adults,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director at Bob’s Discount Furniture. “That’s why we’re supporting the Garde Arts Center and the kids of Connecticut and Rhode Island by sponsoring our sixth annual Online Sleuths Contest.”

“We’re thrilled by Bob’s ongoing commitment to the contest and to the Schooltime Performance Series,” said Steve Sigel, the Garde's executive director. “Their support helps us to continue offering a wide variety of arts programming for young people.”
