Concetta's Italian Restaurant Closed

Concetta's Italian Restaurant in the shopping plaza next to the Stonington police station on Route 1, has closed.

It apparently went out of business so fast that staff did not have time to clean up — food and dirty dishes could be seen last week through the windows.

The restaurant opened in 2012. In January 2013 the state Liquor Control Commission granted a final permit to Sukru Bayram. An answering machine at the number of Bayram was full.

The location has been home to several restaurants in the last 15 years.

The property is owned by D'Amato Brothers of Stonington. John D'Amato said Tuesday the restaurant closed April 30. He did not know why. He said the 2,400-square-foot restaurant is for lease, with the equipment. He also said the interior was cleaned up.
