Dominion to Open Another Power Plant in Connecticut

The company that owns Waterford’s Millstone Power Station will open a natural gas power plant in Bridgeport.

Dominion, owner of Waterford’s Millstone Power Station, announced on Friday that they will build a natural gas power plant in Bridgeport that will produce enough electricity to power 15,000 homes.

According to a release from the company, the facility will produce 14.9 megawatts of electricity using a reactive process that converts natural gas into electricity. The project is expected to support 161 jobs and has been bolstered by tax incentives provided by the City of Bridgeport, according to the release.

"The Dominion Bridgeport Fuel Cell is another important step in our efforts to identify and develop opportunities to produce clean energy that is reliable and cost effective," said Thomas F. Farrell II, Dominion chairman, president and chief executive officer, in the release. "We are now adding fuel cell technology to our energy portfolio that already includes wind, hydro, biomass and, soon, solar. This project supports Connecticut's clean energy goals while producing significant economic development benefits for the State and the City of Bridgeport."

The tax incentives provided by the City of Bridgeport will be in place for the life of the project, according to Dominion’s release. Dominion contracted FuelCell Energy of Danbury to build, operate and maintain the facility, according to the release.

Dominion will sell all the power produced by the facility to Connecticut Light & Power under a 15-year fixed power purchase agreement, according to the release.

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
