Food Fight: Time To Vote In The Pizza Poll

We Got Your Nominations. Now Vote Among The Top Choices For The Stonington And Groton Pizza Champion.

Stonington-Mystic and Groton Patch users are passionate about their pizza. When we asked for your f we got plenty of suggestions and sparked quite the debate.

It’s not just the pizza that makes a pizza place a favorite spot. Stonington and Groton Patch users want a place like , where the owners know their name, a place with New York-style pizza like NY Family Pizza in Groton and places like in Mystic that have the option for gluten- and dairy-free.

We’ve loved reading your comments on Stonington and Groton Patch as well as the comments posted to Stonington Patch Facebook and Groton Patch Facebook, but only one pizza place can be king. To finish off this Food Fight, we need you to vote on one of the top user choices as your favorite pizza place.

Here are your top choices:

pulled in the most nominations, including this one from reader Kevin Thibdeau: "Stonington Pizza vast menu and everything I've tried has been GREAT!! Owners and staff are spectacular!"

had the second most nominations, including this one from reader Nancy Wilkie: "Pizzetta Pizza! They even have vegan pizza with Daiya cheese for vegans and everything is fresh and additive free."

Domino's in and Groton emerged as a late favorite among readers: "Since their overhaul of sauce and introduction of their Artisan Pizzas, the Dominos Pizza locations in Groton, and Mystic consistently leave the local mom and pop pizzerias in their dust. Don't take my word for it...if you haven't tried them in the past year give it a shot," wrote reader RRR.

also made the cut, for reasons such as this from reader Bethany Guthrie Martell (on the Facebook page): "Angie's Pizza & Pier 27 Lounge has the BEST pizza in town (or out of town)!! their spaghetti pizza is awesome!! and the ribs rock!!"

Midway rounds out the top five in the poll.

Leave a comment on why you voted, or spread the word about the voting on your own Facebook and Twitter. Don't forget you can review all the restaurants in the Stonington Places and Groton Places directories.

You have until Sunday at 5 p.m. to vote, and we’ll announce the winner of the Food Fight on Monday morning.

Thanks again, and happy eating!

While I'm all for the values that the Ten Commandments gives us, I also don't want to be defenselessRead More because someone who chooses not to follow them is putting my life in danger. The Right to Bear Arms was created by men, for the purpose of the people of this country having a means to defend ourselves from people who mean us harm, or from a government who might seek to take away our arms for nefarious purposes. A very great man once said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it." Just out of curiosity, if someone were to invade your home, and attack you and your family, putting your lives in danger, what would you be willing to do to defend your lives?

Who gave us this right to bear arms? Men. The only God given law was the Ten Commandments. One ofRead More them explicitly says "Thou shall not kill."

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
