Mystic Restaurant Week 2012 continues for the next three days. The 19 participating restaurants have prepared mouth-watering dishes, and there are a ton of events planned for the last few days.
The Celebration of Mystic Restaurant Week and the Charles W. Morgan continues on Thursday Nov. 8, with a special presentation at the Mystic Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.:
Inspiration and Insights with the Dalvero Academy Artists
Join us at the Mystic Arts Center for a special evening of discussion and celebration of the current exhibition at Mystic Seaport, "Restoring a Past, Charting a Future: An Artistic Discovery of America's Whaling Legacy by Dalvero Academy." Artists Susan Buroker, Audrey Hawkins, Margaret Hurst, Veronica Lawlor, and Dominic Santise will give a presentation about the Academy's artistic interpretation of the restoration of the Charles W. Morgan.
The exhibition, which opened in May, presents multiple perspectives of the historic whaleship and the legacy of whaling. Utilizing numerous mediums, including ink, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, sculpture, photography, and embroidery, 24 of Dalvero Academy's artists created a remarkable exhibit that reflects the inspiration found within the Morgan and Mystic Seaport. You can meet the artists and listen as they share their experiences in using an 1841 whaleship and the Museum as their muse. The a cappella group The ConnArtists from Connecticut College will provide music and there will be refreshments at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
