Home Prices, Sales Up In NL County

Home prices are up by 16 percent; sales by 18 percent

The Bulletin is reporting rises in both home prices and sales in New London County, citing a report from Randall Realtors.

According to the article, for the stretch of February through April, home sales were up by 18 percent when compared to the numbers reported for 2011.

For the same period, home prices were up by 16 percent, the article says.

As for which towns sold the most homes during that time, the report shows that Groton sold 19 in April with Waterford closely trailing with 18.

Stonington sales had the highest median prices, according to the article.

Although April sales in New London County weren't as high as March's numbers, Randall CEO Doug Randall said in a press release that he predicts the continued improvement of the market through the spring season.

“The key is for sellers to continue pricing their homes attractively,” Randall said in the news release. “Buyers still have the upper hand, and they have many properties to choose from. We strongly counsel clients to understand what the market will bear.”
