Westerly Selected for Benjamin Moore Main Street Makeover

A freshly painted Westerly can't hurt downtown Pawcatuck!

Congratulations to the people in Westerly who will soon be painting the town red, as they say…or any other color they wish.

Westerly was one of 20 towns selected by Benjamin Moore paint company’s campaign “Main Street Matters,” an online contest that sought votes for 100 nominated cities to get a facelift.

A press release from Benjamin Moore said the winning cities will receive “the paint and supplies needed for facades, porches railings, shutters and other exterior trims.”

The Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce posted on Facebook: "It's an initiative with a substantial team — Benjamin Moore color experts will look to each street's architecture and history to inspire the new hues, local professional painters will work to transform the facades, railings, and more..."

Community members, friends, local officials, even Brad Pitt joined in the fun to get enough votes for the communities. In face, community involvement was so enthusiastic, the paint company announced that they will make the campaign an annual event.
