The Malted Barley Bar & Restaurant Franchising

Westerly, RI – the Malted Barley, a family owned and operated bar and restaurant since 2011, is expanding its business operations this year by way of franchising locations throughout New England.

Owners Colin and Stephanie Bennett have been operating the Malted Barley at 42 High St, Westerly for 3 years.

In that time, they have developed 17 variations of their homemade, hand-rolled pretzels, including a selection of the very popular pretzel sandwiches, appetizers, soups and desserts. All pretzels are made fresh daily on site.

Behind the bar the colorful display of 37 tap handles takes center stage. With one draft line dedicated to hard cider as a gluten-free option and one dedicated to root beer as a non-alcoholic option – the remaining 35 lines are reserved for an ever-changing lineup of American craft, micro-brew, and artisanal specialty brews.   Additionally, they serve over 30 bottled beers, wine on tap, and an impressive selection of signature cocktails – many of which feature craft spirits.

Current plans call for the opening of several franchises in RI, MA & CT over the next few years and to expand into other states as well.

“Gourmet pretzels and craft beer – a match made in heaven!  We’ve taken a simple concept and figured out how to do it just right.  We know it’s a homerun and we’re so excited to expand and share our success with others.  We look forward to working closely with our franchisees to ensure their success and happiness.  Our pretzels make people happy – young and old – and now we get to spread that love and we feel honored to have that opportunity,” said owner Colin Bennett.
