Imparting Elegance Into Our Communities Young People

Such a beautiful Monday yesterday! I pick up my daughter from school every Monday and Thursday for class at Dance Palace, School of Mystic Ballet. Her elementary school is just a madhouse after the dismissal bell, but one thing I can always count on is that big toothless smile (okay she’s only missing two) because her momma’s picking her up for dance class :) Before I even leave the house, I grab her shoes and tights, and a snack for her to eat on the way. As I’m grabbing them, I always have a small flashback to doing the exact thing 10-16 years ago, EVERY DAY. It’s a sweet memory. Kind of like how for some, cinnamon buns and fresh pine needles reminds them of Christmas. I don’t know, maybe it’s a dancer thing. I guess it never leaves you. Dance Palace, School of Mystic Ballet is a buzz on Monday’s. Always has been. Yesterday I got to sit in on the Grade 1&2 Ballet/Jazz class. Miss Alanna always begins class with a floor warm up, to get the girls focus in tact, and stretch their tiny little muscles. This is so important because a dancers body is the instrument of their craft. They must take good care to make sure they do nothing to jeopardize its integrity. Making sure your muscles are warm and stretched will not only improve your performance in class, but it will protect you from injury. As the class continued, I stepped out for a moment and I had the pleasure of bumping into a mother of one of my students “back in the day” :) I was pleasantly surprised that after the last 12 years, she has continued to dance and is now a grade 7. I snuck up to studio 3 to take a peak and I couldn’t help but just smile at the beautiful young lady she had become. You know I must say if I’m being honest, I wasn’t surprised to find that she had continued dancing with Dance Palace, School of Mystic Ballet. When you find a good thing, you hold onto it. :) Watching this young lady in class, it was obvious to me she had flourished in her training here. I cant even begin to tell you the difference 12 years has made. It reinforces in me hope, as I’m watching my boisterous 7 year old just beginning with her bent knees and floppy arms. Dance Palace, School of Mystic Ballet is shaping our little ones into elegant young people, who are gracefully contributing their art to our society. What a beautiful thing! -e.e
