Electricity customers in southeastern Connecticut who don't have power can expect to be that way for 24 hours or more, CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross said.
“You are the first one ... I’m telling; this just came out. Some sections of Southeastern Connecticut may not have power for 24 hours or longer," Gross said. "The amount of work that needs to be done and the (issue of) access to get to that work, is the problem. Roads must be opened so we can get in and assess damage."
Montville, Stonington, Ledyard, Old Lyme, Lyme, Groton, Waterford, and New London are included in the towns subject to extended outage periods.
As of 5 p.m. Saturday, 57 percent of CL&P customers (4,623 of 7,999) in Stonington remained without power.
