Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect for Stonington
Moderate coastal flooding expected this evening
With snow continuing to fall in Stonington, the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for the area in addition to the blizzard warning already in effect.
The coastal flood advisory will go in effect at 6 p.m., on Friday and stay in effect until midnight. Moderate to coastal flooding is expected.
Governor Dannel P. Malloy declared a state of emergency earlier today and state roads closed at noon. CT TRANSIT bus service will begin shutting down service at 4 p.m. today, and all buses will stop running by 6 p.m. This shut down will be in effect for the entire state until further notice. In a press release this afternoon Connecticut Light & Power said they are pre-staging employees and materials in locations across the state, and that in addition to CL&P’s approximately 400 line workers, hundreds of outside line workers are arriving to provide assistance, with hundreds more expected tomorrow.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph.
