Stonington residents got to have their say on the 2012-2013 proposed town budget and when it came the school budget. After the majority of speakers at the public hearing on the budget spoke in support of raising taxes and or using money from the town’s undesignated fund balance the board decided to restore $150,000 to the school budget. The budget goes to a Town Meeting on April 30 and then to referendum on May 8.

It was a big week for the . On Tuesday, the Seaport announced plans for a that would turn the Seaport into a winter destination. Then on Wednesday, state and Seaport officials declared the 2013-2014 academic year the “.” The 1841 whaleship, which calls the Seaport home, is the last remaining wooden whaleship in the world.
