Historic Weekapaug Inn Will Reopen In October

The Rhode Island Hotel underwent a $20 million renovation

Places to curl up near a wood-burning fireplace, farm-to-table dinning and elegant but cozy rooms—the Weekapuag Inn will open just in time to be an autumn seaside retreat.

The classic Cape-Cod style hotel with red cedar shingles and dark brown trim overlooked Quonochontaug Pond, and the Atlantic sea for more than a century. This October the inn will reopen its door and while the Weekapuag Inn gives homage to its 1899 founding the 2012 version is full of modern amenities.

The $20 million renovation of the Weekapuag Inn is wrapping up. The renovation was undertaken with the support and cooperation of the Rhode Island Historic Preservation & Heritage Commission. The original 67 guest rooms are being converted into 27 guest rooms and four two-bedroom suites.  Where the tennis courts were located there is a now a fitness center that connects to a three-lane 75-foot lap pool. Three dinning spots will feature New England Coastal Cuisine including a farm-to-table restaurant.

The Ocean House Management LLC will manage the Weekapaug Inn, which with the Ocean House will become a collection of seaside resorts.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to manage the Weekapaug Inn and we are honored to play a role in the return of one of New England’s most iconic seaside inns,” said Daniel A. Hostettler, the President and Group Managing Director of Ocean House Management, LLC. “We recognize the vibrant traditions and sense of community at the Inn that will make it a gathering place for locals and guests from around the world.”

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
