The Mystic drawbridge will remain open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, tomorrow, Nov. 1, 2012.
Keith Schoppe of the Mystic River Bridge Rehabilitation project said that due to the still high tide and the fact that the bridge has no power the 54-hour closure will not take place this week.
“It’s out of question for this week,” Schoppe said.
In early October, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that the Mystic drawbridge would close for 54-hours beginning at 7 a.m. on Nov. 1 to 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. The closure was to allow the installation of a vehicle barrier gate system that would span Route 1 on the Stonington side of the bridge.
According to Schoppe the drawbridge closure will take place at a yet to be determined later date.
