National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook

All after school activities are cancelled.

Stonington Public School students will get out early, today Jan. 28, 2013. In an email to parents and school staff Superintendent Van Riley said that due to the expected snow and ice storm he was implementing the early dismissal schedule.

Morning preschool will be dismissed at 10:55 a.m.

Stonington High School will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

Mystic and Pawcatuck Middle Schools will be dismissed at 12:25

Elementary schools including morning kindergarten will be dismissed at 1:10 p.m.

There will be no afternoon kindergarten or preschool today.

All after school activities including drama and athletic practices are cancelled.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area. Here is the forecast as of 10:30 a.m.:

Today: Snow before 5 p.m., then rain, snow, and sleet. High near 35. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

 Tonight Rain and sleet before 9 p.m., then a chance of rain between 9 p.m. and midnight, then a slight chance of drizzle after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind seven to ten mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

 Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.

The unions are in support and wrote this bill with a couple of state representatives. Council 4 ofRead More AFSCME is fighting for this bill to pass for all those that work hard in the State of Connecticut. Any support would be great. Thank you.

my letter will be off monday,i am in total support of this bill. after working your whole life oneRead More should be able to retire with dignity and enjoy your last years. if the unions in the state can work with you for the passage of this bill, this bill SB 54 WILL PASS.
