Power Outages Reported Monday Morning

The worst of Hurricane Sandy is still hours away but already parts of Stonington and Mystic are seeing power outages.

People in Stonington and Groton are already seeing power outages as Hurricane Sandy moves closer to the area.

According to the Connecticut Light and Power outage map, as of 10 a.m: on Monday, Oct. 29, about 930 CL&P customers do not have power. There are about 1700 CL&P customers without power in Groton and about 10,000 throughout the state.

First Selectman Ed Haberek said River Road in Pawcatuck does not have power. That road is part of the mandatory evacuation zone. Thank you to everyone who posted information about power outages on Stonington-Mystic Patch’s Facebook page. We have heard reports power is out in lower Pawcatuck including on Lee, Rivercrest, and Cowell near Renee and Greenhaven. There are reports of power outages in Mystic on Library Street, on Flanders Road in Mystic and in the Fort Hill area of Groton.

According to and Mary Hall and River Roads in Pawcatuck are flooded. He urged people who are able to evacuate to do so now.

If you lose power report it to CL&P by using the "Report an Outage" tool or calling CL&P at 800-286-2000.
