It’s not everyday the police have to deal with a case of stolen cows. The story of the stolen Holsteins captured the attention of locals all week.

On Tuesday, police in Tiverton, Rhode Island arrested a who admitted to the theft of cows from High View Farm in Tiverton. Ledyard Lewis, 41, of North Stonington said he took the for feedstock he previously sold to High View Farm owner Arthur Smith. By Thursday it appeared the case of the had come to a close with the cattle’s safe return back to High View Farm.

The case of the stolen cows wasn’t the only thing resolved on Thursday. A special meeting of the Stonington Board of Education the board had previously decided to eliminate. The last day of school and graduation will now be on June 13.

Budget deliberations began during the week. The Board of Finance agreed to cut $15,000 in proposed funding to the and they aren’t done cutting yet. The board meets again on March 28 and plans to make an additional 650,000 in cuts.

A medical incident involving a student at prompted Stonington Public Schools to hold Thursday. Members of the guidance and administrative departments reminded students of the resources available to them when they or another student is in need of help.
