A recap of the week's top stories on Stonington-Mystic Patch

The third day of February means Valentine’s Day is not far away. To help get you in the Valentine’s Day spirit Whyevernot is inviting anyone who wants to make a Valentine to stop in and write a note on a paper heart. The hearts are hung in the store window. And if you’re planning on getting married there will be free Valentine’s Day weddings at the Olde Mistick Village.

One of the stranger stories of the week occurred in nearby North Stonington. Two cows were shot sometime late Friday, Jan. 25 or early Saturday, Jan. 26. One of the cows had to be euthanized. The cows were owned by the Palmer Family and state representative Diana Urban announced that Chelsea Groton Bank will accept financial donations for those that want to help the family.
