This week marked the first major heat wave of the season. On Wednesday the hot, humid weather reached the upper 80s and on Thursday the temperature was in the 90s. The hot weather deteriorated air quality and .  A Quinnipiac University School of Medicine professional gave some tips to beat the heat that you may want to keep handy.

It’s getting to closer to high school graduation time. Patch sat down with Stonington High School Class of 2011 and learned about her plans for the summer, the future and the people she credits with her success. Next week we’ll have a profile on Valedictorian Jennifer Brant.

Residents are also debating a proposed 68-unit attached About 40 neighbors showed up for the Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing on the application voicing concerns that included units being sold as investment properties and blasting that could affect abutting structures. Discussion on the application will continue at the next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on June 21.

A Child’s Garden Montessori School in Stonington had a special guest several days ago. Emily Lynch attended the original , Italy in the 1920s. Lynch shared her experiences with the class.
