A Recap Of The Week's Top Stories On Stonington-Mystic Patch

The week started off with some sad news. The iconic clam shake, Sea Swirl closed early for the season on September 18, and on Monday the Blaney Family confirmed that the restaurant is up for sale. Owner David Blaney said they were currently negotiating interested party and that he did not know what if any changes the potential new owners will make.

While last week residents packed into public hearings on the unofficial dog park and the proposed subdivision plan in Pawcatuck, this week only, to vote on three separate ordinances. Those in attendance adopted new town rules DMV fees, anti-panhandling and road construction.

On Tuesday, the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that the death of Ryan O’ Loughlin of Mystic a . O’Loughlin died following an arrest by Westerly, RI police in June. The case is under investigation by the RI State Police.

Stonington is no stranger to Hollywood and locals are getting ready for the start of filming of the Merly Streep movie Great Hope Springs. Did you get a casting call back for the movie?
