Week In Review: Merry Christmas From Stonington-Mystic Patch

Happy Christmas Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck! Who is already up opening their presents?

We hope wherever you are on this Christmas day you’re enjoying time with friends and/or family, good food and hopefully some new swag.

It was another busy week in Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck as we hunted for last-minute gifts, wrapped presents and prepared to celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah. Patch had the chance to catch up with a number of locals this week and all of them renewed our faith in the holiday spirit.

There was at the . The Mystic resident donated a model train set to the library for the second year and one lucky winner of the raffle got to take it home.

And of course we can’t forget about . For five years the Mystic resident and Stonington Borough mailman has answered local children’s letters to Santa.

With locals like that how can anyone not in ?

The week wasn’t completely full of the man in the red suit though. Sundown on Tuesday, Dec. 20, was the first day of Hanukkah, but a few people got a head start on the beginning of the on Monday, Dec. 19.

The showed off its renovations during the week. If you haven’t stopped in to see the expansion make sure you do soon. Residents also weighed in throughout the week on renovations they hope will happen to the old Stop & Shop building in Pawcatuck. What in the space?

And in what might be the best news of the season, seven-year-old at home in Stonington, and she is officially in remission.
