It was a busy week! 

The opened this week – yes! – on time, as promised and not a moment too soon. We are soooo grateful. Now, if we can just see the downtown completed on time, as promised. Stay tuned.

In praise of open space and preservation/conservation: the signed a contract to purchase 34 acres of the Coogan Farm off Route 27 in downtown Mystic with named as manager and steward of the pristine, historic and undeveloped parcel. Every stakeholder described the deal as a win-win. 

The for a permit to allow it to screen the film ‘Titanic’ Memorial Day weekend on a 40-foot outdoor movie screen with viewers enjoying the show from their cars. Yes, a drive-in! Tickets will be sold online in advance through the Aquarium’s website. And, Dr. Ballard waxed on all things Titanic with Colbert on Comedy Central. A good week for the Aquarium!

Bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come for you? The Stonington Police Department assisted the federal law enforcement agency the at the border of Connecticut and Rhode Island.  Call ‘em top cops!

-- two years to the day it was forced to close after the deluge of the Flood of 2010. We salute all the volunteers that not only saved the collection but worked tirelessly to re-build. Kudos.

this week when commissioners decided to table a vote on advertising panels for the softball field scoreboard. The majority of the Commission has been uncomfortable with this project from day one. Let’s see where this one goes.
