Winter Weather Advisory In Effect From 1 a.m. To 4 p.m. Saturday

Snow accumulations could be four to six inches in some locations; Northeast winds 5 to 10 p.m.; Temperatures near freezing along the coast Saturday afternoon; For periods of time, snow could cause travel difficulties, so plan ahead.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties, along with parts of New York, the National Weather Service said.

"The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisor for snow ... accumulations could be four to six inches of snow," the NWS said.

The NWS said temperatures could drop into the teens Friday night, and rise to near freezing along the coast Saturday afternoon, and to 25 to 30 inland. Visibility could drop to about one half miles in moderate snow Saturday morning, the NWS said.

"Impacts will include travel difficulties due to snow covered roads and limited visibilities ... use caution while driving," the NWS said. "Freezing will create conditions on area roads. Patchy black ice is also likely."

Tonight: Snow likely, mainly after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 15. North wind around six mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Snow, mainly before 4 p.m. High near 33. East wind between three and seven mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of three to five inches possible.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. North wind between seven and 11 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. East wind between six and nine mph.

Sunday Night: A slight chance of rain and sleet before midnight, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
