Hurricane Irene Town Update - Monday Morning

Hurricane Irene Town Update - Monday Morning

In an effort to continue to keep you updated, I want to provide you the latest information. First, is closed today because of technology outage and phones down. We have a skeleton staff assisting us at our Emergency Operations Center to help residents with questions and concerns.

Secondly, the Town Landfill is open today for brush only. Tomorrow it will be open for all trash. We currently have over 95 percent of the town out of power. Over 7900 households and businesses have not power including our town facilities.

There are more than half a million customers out within the state, most ever. Crews are currently out within the town with linemen and tree crews. We were very fortunate as our CL&P liaison has been assisting us since last night in communication. CL&P has sole authority in the restoration of power. I will continue to keep you updated on our information from CL&P.
