It's Haberek in a Squeaker

Incumbent Democrat Ed Haberek Jr. narrowly defeated challenger Glee McAnanly by 45 votes Tuesday night to retain his position of first selectman.

Haberek, who saw his support wane late in the campaign after allegations from an ongoing lawsuit were leaked to the press, hugged supporters at Town Hall when the results were announced. The final tally was 2,430 votes for Haberek and 2,385 for McAnanly.

Selectman George Crouse, a Democrat, was the top vote-getter for the Board of Selectmen and will retain his seat. McAnanly's total gave her a comfortable victory over fellow Republican Bill Brown for the third seat on the board. Brown received 1,835 votes.
