Hygienic Art's Do The Write Thing Program and the ‘Picture My World’ exhibition utilizes photography and creative writing as a way to teach an appreciation of family and community as well as the development of self-esteem and a personal artistic voice through a non-violent means of expression and positive identity. ‘Picture My World’ offers the viewer a unique glimpse into the lives of the youth of New London through the combination of their poetry and journal writing along with snapshots from their experiences in the city.

The program is a collaborative effort between Do the Write Thing director and lead instructor Nancy Rodgers, a freelance writer and teacher in New London, instructor David Iler, a teacher in New London who is also a freelance musician and artist, and A. Vincent Scarano, freelance photographer, photojournalist and President of Hygienic Art, Inc.

Hygienic Art Wishes to thank Linda L. Mariani for introducing the photographic concept and rallying support to make the program a reality.

The Do The Write Thing and Picture My World programs are proudly supported by Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, Connecticut College, Dime Bank and the City of New London.
