Mystic Aquarium invites people to celebrate the true spirit of the season during its annual Festival of Lights event on Friday, Dec. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free with a nonperishable food item that benefits the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center in New London, Conn.

Hundreds of luminaria line the walkways and festive décor fills the aquarium while local organizations provide entertainment, including holiday music, face painters, storytellers, and a visit from Santa, Saxophone Santa and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Santa and his elf will dive in the large Coral Reef habitat from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free hot chocolate will also be provided.

Across the street, Olde Mistick Village will be illuminated and open until 9:30 p.m. for holiday shopping convenience.

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
