Dr. Oz, Apple Juice, Cantaloupe—Food Scares Continue...

This Post Is Another In A Series Of Posts About Our Contaminated Food Supply And How The Plant-Based Foods Often Get An Un-Deserved Bad Rap.

Here we go again, another round of contaminated plant-based foods

But, once again, the news media never mentions the underlying cause of most of these contaminations. The latest big news is all about arsenic in apple juice and listeria in cantaloupes. Just now, I did a search for what causes listeria and found this information on the Mayo Clinic website:

Listeria bacteria can be found in soil, water and animal feces. Humans typically are infected by consuming:

  • Raw vegetables that have been contaminated from the soil or from contaminated manure used as fertilizer
  • Infected meat
  • Unpasteurized milk or foods made with unpasteurized milk
  • Certain processed foods—such as soft cheeses, hot dogs and deli meats that have been contaminated after processing

Well, how about that? Sounds to me like the real culprit here is our collective love affair with meat and dairy at every meal. Even those of us who consume none of those foods are placed at risk by those who do.

But when the news breaks, the average consumer is led to believe, by the incomplete reporting of our media, that the culprit is the plant-based foods themselves. The average unsuspecting consumer simply has no idea of the root cause of so many of our problems. Earlier this year, I devoted two blogs to this crucial topic. While I'm all for the values that the Ten Commandments gives us, I also don't want to be defenselessRead More because someone who chooses not to follow them is putting my life in danger. The Right to Bear Arms was created by men, for the purpose of the people of this country having a means to defend ourselves from people who mean us harm, or from a government who might seek to take away our arms for nefarious purposes. A very great man once said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it." Just out of curiosity, if someone were to invade your home, and attack you and your family, putting your lives in danger, what would you be willing to do to defend your lives?

Who gave us this right to bear arms? Men. The only God given law was the Ten Commandments. One ofRead More them explicitly says "Thou shall not kill."

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
