With one of my own children serving in a branch of the armed services, it was with interest and determination that I joined as a volunteer with an organization focused on offering support and assistance to our veterans. The name of the organization is The Gallant Few.
The Gallant Few encourages the planning of a monthly gathering where veterans can get to meet each other and in a very informal atmosphere help each other network.
I am happy to report that a local restaurant in New London has kindly and gladly opened their doors to allow as many veterans who would like to meet casually at breakfast time on the First Saturday of each month do so at their family owned business. The information that I will be putting on flyers and posting looks like this:
Breakfast!!!! 1st Saturdays
Who: Any Veteran
What: A no-host gathering of veterans who want to network – no strings, no membership fees, no commitment (you pay for your own breakfast if you choose to eat)
Where: A breakfast spot in your community (see Below)
When: 0900 hours, the 1st Saturday of the month
Why: To expand our network of local veterans in order to get to know each other, share experiences and share job leads
